## The app

### Which devices does Overhang run on?

Overhang runs on iPhone, iOS 18 or later. There's no iPad, Android or web version.

### Does Overhang need an account?

No. Overhang has nothing to sign up for and nothing to sign in to.

### Does Overhang work offline?

Yes. Overhang works with no signal at all. There's no Overhang server.

### What doesn't Overhang do?

Overhang has no feed or leaderboard: you're only ever compared with yourself. It isn't a shared route database or a crag guide.

### What changed in the latest Overhang update?

[The changelog](https://trainoverhang.com/changelog/) lists every shipped Overhang release.

## Your data

### Where does Overhang keep my data?

Overhang keeps your log in [a database on your iPhone](https://trainoverhang.com/privacy/#what-stays-on-your-device). It leaves the phone only in a file you save, or in your own iCloud if your iPhone's iCloud Backup or Overhang's iCloud copy is on.

### How do I back up my Overhang log?

Overhang backs up from Settings, Your Data: [to a file](https://trainoverhang.com/privacy/#backup-and-export), or as a copy in your own iCloud. Restore from either after a reinstall or on a new phone.

### Can I export my data from Overhang?

Yes. Overhang exports JSON or spreadsheets from Settings, Your Data, and export never locks.

### Does Overhang work with Apple Health?

Yes, and it's off by default: Overhang imports bodyweight for strength-to-weight and exports finished sessions as workouts.

## Training

### Which grade systems does Overhang use?

Overhang grades boulders in V-scale (VB to V17) or Font (Fontainebleau, 3 to 9A), or by your gym's colors. Switch Grading System in Settings and your logged climbs follow; switch back and you get the grades you logged.

### Which hangboard protocols does Overhang time?

Overhang times four hangboard protocols with a guided timer, alongside your own routines: max hangs, 5 × 10 s per grip; repeaters, 7 s on and 3 s off, six to a set; no-hangs (Abrahangs), 20 submax 10 s hangs across six grips; and the Max Lift Test, which sets their target loads.

### How does Overhang estimate e1RM?

Overhang uses the Epley estimate. With your bodyweight logged, a weighted pull-up or dip counts it plus the belt, then reads back as the added weight.

### When does Overhang show a NEW BEST?

Overhang shows NEW BEST when a max actually goes up. Your first session on an exercise sets the baseline; after that, a best has to beat it.

## The beta

### How do I join the Overhang beta?

[Overhang's beta](https://testflight.apple.com/join/jDykxgzq) runs on Apple's TestFlight: install TestFlight from the App Store on your iPhone, then open the beta link there and tap Install.

### Is Overhang free?

Yes. Overhang is free while in beta.

### Will my Overhang log carry over from the beta?

Yes. The App Store version of Overhang updates the beta in place, so your log stays.
